San Luis Obispo NAACP celebrates MLK Day

Monday is the celebration of the birth of Martin Luther King Jr. and there will be events happening across the country to honor the civil rights figure. 

On the Central Coast, the San Luis Obispo County branch of the NAACP will host its inaugural Communities Together Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King event,along with a number of other organizations. 

Fresno State University professor Dr. Donald Cheek will be the main speaker. 

The event is from 4-8 p.m. at the Congregation Beth David church in San Luis Obispo. 

The event is free to the public and will have music, films, food and an exhibit on African-American history.
