City leaders and residents will toast to a new playground in Paso Robles Wednesday afternoon.

No champagne here, though. Arguably better - milk and cookies.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will happen at 4 p.m. at Barney Schwartz Park to celebrate more than $200,000 in improvements to the playground.

Mayor Steve Martin and other city officials will be there to raise their glasses of milk and dunk cookies.

Kids at the event will have the chance to win prizes at the ceremony.

The new playground is designed with climbing areas, log tunnels, spinners, swings and slides for kids ages two to 12.

The previous playground was 15 years old and badly deteriorating.

Funding for the new playground was provided through the Dale Schwartz Memorial Fund.

Barney Schwartz Park is located at 2970 Union Rd, Paso Robles.
