Sewer project in Santa Maria will impact traffic next 6 weeks

Posted: Updated:

Santa Maria city leaders have a heads up for drivers: a sewer upgrade project starting Monday, Feb. 5 will cause delays on a major thoroughfare in town.

Construction on the sewer line at Skyway Drive is expected to impact drivers and bicyclists for the next six weeks.

Crews will be working on a one-mile section of Skyway Drive near the airport.

Work will start at the intersection of Broadway and Skyway and move west as crews make progress, according to city officials.

Skyway Drive will be reduced to one lane during construction. Part of the bike path will also be closed.

Officials encourage people to use alternate routes and allow extra time for your commute.

The project is expected to be complete in mid-March.
