New ice cream shop drawing a crowd in Santa Maria

A new ice cream shop in Santa Maria promises to help people cool down during the warm winter.

Nino and Cheryl Eng opened Nite Creamery in Santa Maria approximately a month ago at Miller Street and Daniel Drive. The shop uses liquid nitrogen to freeze cream, turning it into ice cream. The couple claims the nitrogen makes for a smoother, creamier cup or cone.

"We try to get a flavor for every taste bud, if you will," said Nino Eng. "We try to hit every single crave that you can have in our flavors."

The shop is open from 3-10 p.m. daily. Nite Creamery has plans to open a second location in downtown San Luis Obispo at the revamped Creamery Marketplace.
