Around 100 people were in attendance for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday at the newest building on Cuesta College's San Luis Obispo campus.

The two-story, 32,000 square-foot building was funded by Measure L.

It has eight multi-discipline classrooms on the first floor, with the capacity of up to 45 students each, and a forum-sized classroom that can hold up to 80 students.

On the second floor, there are more than 40 offices, a large staff lounge and three meeting rooms.

Following Monday's ceremony, those in attendance, including local lawmakers, county supervisors, former and current Cuesta College staff members and the general public, were able to tour the building, learn about its construction and special features along with future bond projects planned for the campus.

"This ribbon-cutting ceremony represents the culmination of several years of planning and hard work involving many departments and individuals, and also is one example of keeping our promise to the residents of San Luis Obispo County to ensure their local tax dollars went to improving their community college," said Cuesta College Superintendent/President Dr. Gil Stork in a statement on the college's website.

The building was first put into use earlier this year at the start of Cuesta's spring semester.
