LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities have seized more than two dozen guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition from a California man, nearly five months after a judge signed an order prohibiting him from possessing firearms.

The case announced Tuesday by California Attorney General Xavier Becerra and Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer highlights a backlog in a state system meant to seize guns from those who have them and shouldn't.

More than 10,000 people remain in the Armed Prohibited Person system, which identifies those who legally purchased guns but were later disqualified from having firearms.

Agents from Becerra's office searched a North Hollywood home months after a judge issued a protective order in a domestic violence case in September. They found 25 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
