The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office has identified the body found floating in the water at Port San Luis on Jan. 31 as James Ross Calder, 40, of Avila Beach.

Calder was reported missing on Jan. 21. Neighbors told investigators they'd last seen him just a couple of days before.

After checking his home, authorities searched the Avila Beach area over several days but found no sign of him.

A fisherman reportedly found Calder's body near the breakwater. Investigators had to use dental records to make a positive identification.

The cause of his death has not been released.
