Paso Robles considers making weed abatement a year-round requirement

Posted: Updated:

With the potential for wildfires top of mind, the Paso Robles City Council is considering changing its weed-abatement ordinance.

The ordinance, getting its second reading at Tuesday's meeting, would require vegetation be maintained at less than 4 inches year-round instead of just from June to November. The change would make Paso Robles' ordinance more aligned with cities like Atascadero.

The interim fire chief says with current drought conditions, there isn't a true fire season anymore.
