Buyer beware: Websites offering tickets to Mid-State Fair concerts that aren't yet on sale

Posted: Updated:

The California Mid-State Fair is right around the corner and tickets go on sale this Friday for the first big name performance in the concert line up, Florida Georgia Line.

Before you buy your tickets, there are some things you should keep in mind. In particular, you can't purchase tickets elsewhere before Friday for any concerts at the fair.

Luke Bryan fan Allison Williams recently stumbled upon some online tickets for sale to his concert at the Mid-State Fair. The performer will take the stage for the first time ever in Paso Robles on July 26.

Williams came across several links when searching "Luke Bryan at the Mid-State Fair." Some tickets showed up as steep as $380. The ticket resale site claimed a 100% guarantee.

However, before Williams hit the purchase button, she had second thoughts.

"I did a little bit more research," she said. "I went to Consumer Affairs on a couple of the sites  and I noticed they had a bunch of one stars on them that people's tickets wouldn't show up, they weren't valid."

Fair spokesman Tom Keffury says there's only one way to get legit tickets.

"The only verified tickets can be purchased from our website, midstatefair.com," he said. "Like for Luke Bryan, tickets haven't even gone on sale yet so there are no tickets."

Tickets for Luke's concert go on sale Friday, March 2. Total capacity for the venue is nearly 15,000.

During the Garth Brooks concert last year, the Mid-State Fair used Ticketmaster for sales. This year, they are going with Ticketswest.

"It's very easy to get duped," Keffury said. "It's very easy to do a Google search and get duped."

Williams now has a game plan for scoring those Luke Bryan tickets.

"Be on the computer right away as soon as they're going to go online for sale and try that way. Try like I have in the past. Sometimes I win, sometimes I don't," she said.

For Florida Georgia Line tickets, prices range from $51 to $131. At 10 a.m. on Friday, you can get those tickets by calling 1-800-909-FAIR or at midstatefair.com only. At 1 p.m. you can purchase them in person at the Mid-State Fair box office.

This will be the second time Florida Georgia Line has performed at the Mid-State Fair.
