Semi-truck high centered on Hwy 101 off ramp causes major backup in SLO

Posted: Updated:

Traffic is backing up on the Highway 101 southbound through San Luis Obispo Wednesday morning after a semi-truck got stuck on the Marsh Street off ramp.

According to CHP, the semi-truck high centered on the off ramp at about 8:20 a.m. as it attempted to exit the freeway.

Cars exiting the 101 at Marsh Street quickly backed up onto the highway as they tried to navigate around the truck.

The Marsh Street southbound off ramp is being shut down intermittently as officers work to move the semi.

CHP is asking drivers to take the off ramps before or after Marsh Street, at Broad Street or Madonna, respectively.

CHP officials say units on scene are getting the truck straightened out and traffic should be back to normal by about 9:30 a.m.
