Popeyes one step closer to opening in Arroyo Grande

Posted: Updated:

A Popeyes restaurant is one step closer to going up in Arroyo Grande.

The proposal went before the planning commission Tuesday night where it was approved.

During the packed meeting, residents voiced concerns, saying the building would be an eyesore, traffic would become congested in the area and there would be too much noise overall.

Nine people spoke out against the project's potential location at the corner of El Camino Real and Faeh Avenue, which is on city-owned land next to Francisco's Country Kitchen. No one spoke in favor of it.

The project will now go before the city council.
