Los Osos 1st grader collecting donations for Thomas Fire, mudslide victims

Posted: Updated:

A local first grader who was moved to help people after the Thomas Fire and Montecito mudslides is following through in a big way.
Kenzie Norris attends Monarch Grove Elementary School in Los Osos.
She organized a drive to benefit disaster victims.
Kenzie's family connected with Poinsettia Elementary in Ventura where around 30 families lost nearly everything they had.
She's making "family fun kits" of gift cards, board games, kids books and snacks.

"Once they get them, they will be really happy," Kenzie told KSBY News.

"It's such a great example for the kids of 'just because you're a kid, doesn't mean you can't make a huge difference,'" said Monarch Grove Principal Lara Storm.

Kenzie will be collecting donations at Monarch Grove through next Wednesday.
