Two people were arrested in Santa Barbara Sunday morning for a hefty list of crimes, including stealing a car, mail, and thousands of dollars worth of loot, among other crimes.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says an initial vehicle burglary report came in around 6:50 a.m. near Burtis Street and San Marcos Road. The caller told deputies that two people were pulling on car-door handles while riding in a car that had a paper license plate attached to the bumper.

Deputies found the car -- which was reported stolen in Santa Maria -- and 29-year-old Erika Krystal Garcia and 29-year-old Aldo Almanza along with it.

The sheriff's office says the two committed numerous thefts throughout Santa Barbara County, including an inventory of stolen property, burglary tools, mail, and also had methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the car.

Deputies say Garcia was arrested for vehicle theft, burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and a no-bail probation department detainer.

Almanza was arrested for vehicle theft, burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, grand theft, possession of methamphetamine, and a felony no-bail warrant stemming from a previous auto theft.

Both were booked into the county jail without bail.

The sheriff's office says anyone who thinks their stuff was stolen or has any information on the crime should contact them at (805) 681-4100. Anonymous callers can try (805) 681-4171 or this link.
