Bridges to be rebuilt in Montecito following mudslide damage

Posted: Updated:

Several bridges will have to be rebuilt in Montecito following the damage brought on by the mudslides in early January.

Security Paving Company of Sylmar is the current contractor on rebuilding the Montecito Creek, Romero Creek and Toro Canyon bridges. These bridges will be closed for several months to through traffic, barring emergency and work vehicles.

Caltrans will explore options and the timeline to accelerate the replacement bridge for the Arroyo Parida Creek Bridge.

The existing bridges will be demolished before the new bridgework begins.

In total, the project is estimated to cost $20 million.

Drivers will be encouraged to use Highway 101 over State Route 192 as clean up efforts continue.

State Route 192 is closed between Sycamore Canyon/Camino Viejo Road and Cravens Lane.
