Olympic-winner Shaun White apologized Wednesday morning during his interview with The Today Show for his choice of words referencing a lawsuit for sexual harassment that happened in 2016.

Today Show hosts began addressing the negative headlines after they spoke of his gold-medal run in this year's Pyeongchang Olympic Games, and asked if he had anything to say about the situation resurfacing.

"I'm truly sorry that I chose the word 'gossip.' It was a poor choice of words to describe such a sensitive subject in the world today and I'm just truly sorry," he said on TODAY. "I was so overwhelmed with just wanting to talk about how amazing today was and share my experience."

AP reports Lena Zawaideh filed the suit against White in August 2016. She claimed White repeatedly sexually harassed her, forced her to watch pornography and refused to pay her after she was fired.

According to The Today Show interview, when he was asked if he wanted to acknowledge the allegations or whether he had learned from the experience, White said he's "grown as a person over the years."
