The Wall That Heals, a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., is coming to San Luis Obispo later this month and volunteers are needed to assist visitors at the exhibit.

The display includes the names of the more than 58,000 U.S. service members who died during the Vietnam War. It will be located at the Madonna Meadows and open to the public 24 hours a day starting at 12 a.m. on March 29 and closing at 2 p.m. on April 1.

The County of San Luis Obispo Veterans Services Office is looking for 106 volunteers to work one four-hour shift each between March 28 and April 1. Duties may include standing along the exhibit for public assistance, directing visitors around the displays on the Education Center, assisting visitors in locating names on the exhibit, assisting visitors that would like to do a name rubbing, and providing handouts.

Volunteer training will be held on Wednesday, March 28 from 6-7 p.m. at Madonna Meadows. Click here to sign up.

This will be the first time in 21 years that The Wall That Heals has made a stop in San Luis Obispo.

Entrance into the exhibit will be free of charge.
