SLO County health officials issue rain advisory for ocean waters

Posted: Updated:

The County of San Luis Obispo Public Health Department has issued a rain advisory due to the recent storm.

Officials say the public should avoid ocean water contact during and at least three days following significant rainstorms such as the recent rainfall on March 1 and 2.

They say rainstorm runoff can transport high levels of bacteria and other disease-causing organisms to the ocean. Those organisms can cause skin, respiratory and intestinal problems.
