Frost, winter weather advisories through Saturday night

A frost advisory is in place for San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties as a cold air mass is settling into the region tonight.

Gusty winds will form along the Santa Barbara south coast this evening and cold temperatures will bring areas of frost.

Temperatures will drop between 32 and 35 degrees across the Central Coast between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

Officials urge residents to take protective measures for sensitive plants and bring pets indoors.

The frost advisory includes the cities of San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay Cambria, San Simeon, Santa Maria, Lompoc, and Vandenberg.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for the mountains of Santa Barbara.

Periods of rain and snow are expected Saturday night with winds around 20-30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph.

Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected above 4500 ft.

The winter weather advisory will expire 9:00 p.m. Saturday night.
