Lompoc apartment complex residents nervous after another violent incident

Posted: Updated:

Two people were sent to the hospital and one is in custody following a stabbing in Lompoc Sunday night.

The stabbing was reported before 11 p.m. at Arbor Square Apartments on G Street.

“We responded to the area, we found a lady who was stabbed, she got transported to Cottage Hospital,” said Sgt. Jorge Magaña, Lompoc Police Department.

Police say a second person was hurt during the argument as she tried to break up the fight.

“Got in the middle of the altercation, tried to take the knife away and then she got cut,” Sgt. Magaña explained.

Police say the suspect, also a woman, was taken into custody.

Resident Francisco Garcia, who lives in the Arbor Square Apartments, says he feels like crime is getting worse in the area.

“We keep our children close on the off possibility that, you know, people are fighting, people are not getting along,” Garcia said.

He says this isn’t the only incident at these apartments that’s left him shaken.

On the 4th of July, three people were injured when shots were fired toward the apartment complex.

“Shooting and stabbings have happened. It’s unfortunate, but they happen,” Garcia added.

Both victims of Sunday’s stabbing are expected to be okay.

Officers are still investigating what lead to the altercation.

It is unknown at this time if all people involved live in the apartment complex.
