Astronaut Capt. Scott Kelly to speak at Cal Poly

Posted: Updated:

Retired astronaut and U.S. Navy Captain Scott Kelly will be speaking about his past missions to space March 20 at Cal Poly.

Kelly is a veteran of four space flights and commanded the International Space Station on expeditions 26, 45 and 46. He set the record for the total accumulated number of days spent in space by an American astronaut at 520. That record was later broken in 2016 and 2017.

Kelly studied what effects lengthy periods of time in space have on the human body.

He retired in 2016.

Kelly will be speaking about his past missions and how he wants to inspire others to reach their goals at Harman Hall on March 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Organizers suggest arriving early because there will be space travel prototypes on display.
