Lompoc boys basketball to travel for first round of state playoffs

Posted: Updated:

Lompoc High School will travel to View Park for its first round of the 2018 CIF State Southern Boys Basketball Championships on Wednesday.

The Braves received the no. 11 seed and will face no. 6 View Park.

Lompoc (15-16) fell in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 semifinals Carnegie Schools Riverside, 62-44 on February 23.

Although the team has had a week off to rest, it's been a tough week for some of the players because former teammate Michael Taylor passed away on March 2.

"He's just kind of in our hearts. There are a few guys here that were around when Michael was around," said Paul Terrones, Lompoc head coach. "This week has been a little tough for them. He was a big part of Lompoc basketball. We're going to try to honor him by playing our hearts out tomorrow night."

Tip-off is on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
