This year's SLO Marathon and Half Marathon will have new courses.

“The new course has less elevation than in the past, which I'm sure many runners will appreciate. We are excited to offer a scenic tour of San Luis Obispo, including the beautiful Irish Hills Natural Preserve, the Old Town Historic District, Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, Fremont Theatre and rolling hills of Edna Valley's wine country,” Race SLO Founder and CEO Samantha Pruitt said in a statement.

Both the 26.2-mile and 13.1-mile races start and finish at the Madonna Inn. The event is set for April 28-29 and qualifies runners for the Boston Marathon.

In addition to the marathon and half-marathon races, runners can also participate in family races and a 5K fun run.
