LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Long Beach police have shot and wounded a gunman they say threatened to blow up a federal building and prompted a lockdown at nearby City Hall.
Police surrounded a white Chevy van for two hours Wednesday after a woman called authorities to say her husband was armed and threatening to blow up the Glenn M. Anderson Federal Building.
TV news footage showed the man ranting at officers while standing outside the van, holding a handgun.
The Long Beach Press-Telegram reports that the standoff ended when police fired several shots and wounded the man.
He was taken to a hospital but there's no immediate word on on his condition.
No explosives were found.
