City of Santa Maria approves three-story mixed-use building

Posted: Updated:

Santa Maria city officials have approved construction on a three-story mixed-use building to go at the corner of Donovan Road and McClelland Street.

The building will include three stories, 18 small residential units, two on the ground level, eight on the 2nd floor and eight on the 3rd floor. The ground level will also allow approximately 4,800 square feet of commercial space proposed to be used as a laundromat.

In 2015, the city adopted a general plan and zoning map, which allowed the property to be zoned. The Planning Commission began reviewing the proposal in early May. Since then, the applicants have removed one of the commercial spaces on the ground level was added and two residential units were added.

Officials said the project will not cause significant impacts on the environment, traffic or noise.
