Posted: Updated:

About an acre of vegetation burned in a fire that broke out in the Paso Robles riverbed Monday night, fire officials say.

The Paso Robles Fire Department says a total of 16 firefighters from various agencies responded to the blaze, which was burning in and around trees and brush in the riverbed north of 13th Street.

Firefighters say they were able to contain the flames in about 45 minutes, but worked into the overnight hours to fully put out the flames.

The cause is under investigation.

Officials remind people to make sure they have proper vegetation clearance around their homes.
