Posted: Updated:

A woman was taken to the hospital after a rollover crash on Highway 101 north of Gaviota on Tuesday.

The crash happened in the southbound lanes on the Nojoqui Grade just before 12:30 p.m.

Santa Barbara County Fire officials say the driver, a woman in her early 20s, was ejected from the vehicle, a Chevrolet Trailblazer, which ended up on its roof along the shoulder of the highway.

The woman reportedly suffered major injuries and a helicopter was called in to take her to the hospital. The helicopter landed at the intersection of highways 1 and 101, requiring an off-ramp to be shut down.

CHP reported the roadway was clear by 1:20 p.m.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
