Cal Poly receives donation to help end student homelessness

Posted: Updated:

The Tanklage Family Initiative to End Homelessness at Cal Poly Fund is giving the university $150,000 to assist Cal Poly students struggling with homelessness and housing stability.

The fund was named in honor of late architectural engineering alumnus Donald Tanklage.

The money will be administered through Cal Poly Cares,  a program that provides emergency grants to students who are unable to afford certain expenses, including housing.

"Housing affordability is a regional issue that impacts everyone, especially students who struggle to meet basic living needs," said Cal Poly Dean of Students Kathleen McMahon. "I cannot thank the Tanklage family enough for supporting our students."

The family also provides the Donald Tanklage Scholarship for Construction Management and Architecture students.
