Smash Mouth helps kick off Santa Barbara County Fair

Posted: Updated:

The Santa Barbara County Fair kicked off Wednesday, July 11.

Thousands of people went to see the best the county has to offer at the Santa Maria Fairpark.

This year's theme is "Cowboys and Carousels."

Wednesday's admission was half price until 3 p.m. and all rides were priced at $1.

You can enjoy the Musical Cowboys in the Discovery Pavilion where they perform every day of the fair. Plus, many other entertainers will be performing around the fairgrounds.

"There's nothing that beats the look on a child's face when they see the carnival and the rides lit up especially at night and all the strolling acts and the excitement," said Santa Maria Fairpark spokesperson Shelly Cone. "It's just a look of amazement and that's priceless."

Smash Mouth kicked off the Bud Light Concert series Wednesday night. The Santa Maria Fairpark shared part of the concert, which was free with admission:

On Thursday, dancers from Allan Hancock College will perform on center stage.

This is the 127th year of the Santa Barbara County Fair.

The fair runs through Sunday, July 15 and is open from noon to 10 p.m. each day.

General admission is $12, children ages 6-11 and seniors 62+ are $8, and kids 5 and under get in for free.
