Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Compliance Team seizes more than 1,500 marijuana plants

Posted: Updated:

On September 6th, the new Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Cannabis Compliance Team discovered several illegal marijuana cultivation sites.

This team is comprised of investigators from the Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau, Santa Barbara Police Department, California Fish & Wildlife, County District Attorney’s Investigator’s Office and the County’s Planning and Development Department.

By serving search warrants in Nipomo, Santa Barbara County and Palos Verdes, investigators were able to determine a  62-year-old Palos Verdes resident was involved in an illegal grow operation spanning several properties in the Tepusquet area.

After searching three addresses, the 500 block of Via Estrada Drive in Palos Verdes, the 7900 block of Blazing Saddle Dr. and the 1800 block of Tepusquet Rd, investigators found more than 1,400 marijuana plants in total as well as an additional site that was being prepared to cultivate the plants.

The team also discovered environmental violations and during a follow up search of the 800 block of Chata Steet, they found a small amount of heroin and documents relating to more marijuana cultivation.

The Cannabis Compliance Team is working hard to stop illegal grows like these and prevent the environmental crimes associated with them.
