Crews have located the kayak and backpack belonging to 32-year-old Sean Fleming of Lompoc. He vanished Saturday afternoon after launching his kayak from Gaviota State Beach. Santa Barbara Police have released the name of the man whose body washed ashore near Hendry's Beach Thursday. The body has been identified as 48-year-old Santa Barbara resident Gordon Jennell. Sewage spill closes Goleta Beach

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department has closed Goleta Beach in response to a major sewage spill. Officials say about 800 gallons of sewage spilled at the west end of the Goleta Beach parking lot Wednesday afternoon. A portion of the untreated sewage flowed into the ocean. ... more » -

Investigators identify body found in Ira Lease Park Monday

Pismo Beach police officers say the body found in Ira Lease Park on Monday is that of 43-year-old Joseph Anthony Illg, a Pismo Beach resident. After an autopsy Wednesday, investigators ruled out foul play in the death. Illg's body was found Monday afternoon near a creek in the park.... more » -
