Archaeologists continue to dig up decades of movie history under Central Coast sand dunes.

Some middle schoolers in Santa Maria got a chance to hang out with law enforcement Saturday, for fun.
The city Parks and Recreation Department teamed up with the Shack Paintball Field to host a free trip for the kids.
Students who are part of the Abel Maldonado Youth Center were invited.
The center is open to students in the 7th through 12th grades. There are activities available all summer long.

A Santa Maria jury found Shane Villalpando, a former St. Joseph's High School student, guilty Wednesday of three felony counts of unlawful sex with a minor. He was convicted of having sex with the former classmate three times last year when the girl was 14 and he was 18. (More) • Video (1)

The San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce says the long-anticipated opening of Albertsons on Johnson Avenue is set to happen at the end of June.
The store replaces the vacant Scolari's grocery store that closed in May 2012.
The opening comes after 12 weeks of remodeling the 32,000 square foot location.
The new store will feature Starbuck's, natural and organic foods, a floral department and a local wine and micro-brews section.
