Dozens of Cal Poly students are currently in quarantine due to possible COVID-19 exposure.
According to Cal Poly, 75 on-campus students are in “quarantine in place” for 14 days.
“In the event of possible exposures in University Housing facilities, the university can, as a precaution, place floors or sections of buildings on ‘Quarantine in Place’ for 14 days, in consultation with San Luis Obispo County Department of Public Health,” according to the university’s website.
Cal Poly has not disclosed specifics of what prompted the quarantine in place or what building is impacted, citing privacy laws, but did say the quarantine began Sept. 8 with 10 students. More students were quarantined over the next few days with the final 40 being added Sept. 16.
Since July 8, Cal Poly says Campus Health and Wellbeing have tested 3,345 students for COVID-19. Of those, six on-campus students have tested positive.
Eighty-four students who live off-campus have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 in that same timeframe, with five of them being within the last 72 hours.
Cal Poly says three students are currently in isolation. Another 14 students are in a two-week quarantine due to possible COVID-19 exposure.
