Lompoc native Julian Araujo is finalizing a major league soccer contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Araujo told KSBY on Thursday, “I’ve been here for a long time. I’m also very excited to be the first homegrown under general manager Dennis te Kloese. We are in the works of getting my deal done. Something should be happening soon.”
The 17-year-old defender has been playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy II for the past six months, the Galaxy’s reserve team.
Araujo made his professional debut on February 9 during an MLS preseason game against Toronto FC.
Couldn’t be happier to have been able to make my professional debut tonight in front of not only the great fans, but my family and friends as well. Thank you to coach for showing confidence in me tonight, it was a special moment that I will never forget!
