Construction crews put up the last steel beam at a new Santa Maria school.
Santa Maria-Bonita School District board members, some of the district staff and construction crew autographed the last steel beam before it was lifted into place by a crane.
Construction workers, project managers and architects also had the chance to sign the beam.
School board members say their names will always be part of the school's back bone.
“Schools are an important part of the community because they touch the future every day, but never more so than all these individuals here that have been involved in the construction,” said Luke Ontiveros, superintendent of the Santa Maria-Bonita School District.
