San Luis Obispo's warming center at 40 Prado Rd. is opening Friday due to cold weather in the forecast.
It is opening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m to anyone in need of shelter and a hot meal.
People are not allowed to leave after checking in. Pets are allowed.
The warming center closes at 6:00 a.m.
Donations are being accepted:
- Sleeping bags
- Blankets
- Large trash bags
- Disposable plates, bowls, cups, and utensils
- Coffee, tea, creamer, sugar
- Breakfast Bars
- Instant Noodle/Cup of Noodles
- Large backpacks
- New socks and warm gloves
- Rain gear/ponchos/umbrellas
The warming center opens when it is 38 degrees and/or 50%+ chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
