The Lompoc Senior's Club held its second annual Space Symposium fundraiser.

The event included displays such as a telescope, pictures of the first moon landing and the 1986 movie "Space Camp."

The goal was to raise $10,000. The money will fund the Lompoc Senior’s Club's activities such as dances, barbecues, concerts and carpooling to entertainment events.

“It's important for seniors to get out and socialize instead of being couch potatoes we got to get our seniors out and let them have a little bit of fun,” said David Tekaat, the second vice president of the Lompoc Senior Club.

Retired space industry employees were encouraged to wear clothes with their former company's logo.

Kids 2 to 12-years-old were asked to dress as space explorers or space movie characters.
