The Haunt in Atascadero returns for Halloween scares

Atascadero's haunted house opened Friday night.

Volunteers are saying it’s one of the most frightening experiences on the Central Coast.

This year's theme is mayhem manor, which is a traditional haunted mansion. They have several rooms filled with things designed to scare adults.

Volunteers with the haunted house spent the last six months planning it out. They mix it up every year so people have a new experience.

"I like the challenge. Every year we come up with a whole new idea, a whole new plan and then for me the fun part is figuring out how to implement it. And then once it actually starts to come together, we get all these people that come through and when they really enjoy it and they really enjoyed themselves and start talking about it that is the rewarding part," said volunteer Chris Towers.

The Mount has a lights on tour for kids. That's on Sundays from 2:30 p.m. to 4:3 p.m.

The regular show is on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. all the way through Halloween.
