The Los Osos Middle School Robotics Team is asking for the community's help.
They're raising funds to try to go to the state and national championship. It'll cost $12,000 for the students go. So far, they've raised $9,000.
The competition is at the end of March in Iowa so they're still hoping to reach that goal.
The students say they're so excited for this trip of a lifetime.
"I think it's going to be more competitive because there are more teams and it's a higher competition than just what we are used to so we're hoping to have our robot to perfection by then and get a lot of practice time before then," said 8th Grader, Macy.
There's a drive thru BBQ dinner fundraiser on Jan. 31 at the middle school.
It's from 4 to 6 p.m.
It's $45 and it'll feed a family of four.
