The Poly Plant Shop has its annual holiday sale starting Friday where you can purchase festive plants and support the students.
Some 2,000 poinsettias are being cared for in the green house. Many of them are the traditional red but there are also yellows and pinks shining through the rows of flowers.
The students who help grow the poinsettias say they are a very labor intensive crop. The poinsettias must be fertilized and irrigated every day.
"It really is good with time management and I only grow succulents so this is a completely different crop and it’s interesting to see how much labor can go into one type of plant," said Cal Poly senior Allana Childs.
The poinsettias range from $5-$55. The money goes to the students and the Cal Poly Corporation.
The holiday open house starts Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday the shop is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Poly Plant Shop is located in Lab A at the Horticulture building. To get there follow Highland Drive to Via Carta and drive up the hill.
There will be cookies, beverages and the halls will be decked.
