Posted at 9:30 AM, Jan 30, 2018

A wildfire survivor will share her devastating story Wednesday in Cambria as part of San Luis Obispo County’s disaster readiness program.

The presentation is the first of a series of events sponsored by the Cambria Fire Safe Focus Group and the San Luis Obispo County Fire Safe Council.

Author Sandra Millers Younger’s presentation is entitled, "How Not to Be a Disaster Victim: What I Wish I’d Known about Wildfire and What It Taught Me about Resilience."

In the massive 2003 Cedar Fire in San Diego County, Younger lost her home and 12 neighbors. She too, nearly died in the wildfire.

Younger will discuss how to prepare for wildfire and other disaster, as well as how to recover if you ever become a victim.

The event will be held at the Cambria Veterans Hall, 1000 Main Street on Wednesday, January 31 from 3-5 p.m.
