A Navy crew member is recovering after she had to be airlifted off a ship and taken to a hospital in Santa Barbara Sunday night.
Coast Guard officials say at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, they received reports that a female crew member of the U.S.S. Momsen Navy destroyer was suffering from symptoms of appendicitis.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew was dispatched from Point Mugu and flew the woman to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Officials say at last report, the crew member was doing fine.
