The Wall That Heals left the Central Coast this week, but organizers say there were dozens of items left behind.

More than 12,000 people visited the smaller-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., while it was in San Luis Obispo.

Some people left behind memorabilia for loved ones whose names are included on the wall, such as books, pictures and even beer.

"We’re going to go ahead and make sure that these items not only get taken care of but that they also make their way throughout the county whenever an organization wants to honor the veterans of that generation," said John Aparicio, SLO County Veterans Services Office Outreach Coordinator.

More than 100 items were collected by the Vietnam Veterans of America. They’ll be stored at the Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum in San Luis Obispo for locals to see on display.
