Community members of Arroyo Grande banded together on Saturday to clean up a cemetery.
The Arroyo Grande cemetery is known to receive criticism from residents for its condition. The cemetery district said in 2016 it is up against a few problems when it comes to maintaining the 20-acre property, including financial issues, staff cutbacks, and the drought.
Now, community members who have buried loved ones in the cemetery have vowed to keep it in good condition, all while encouraging others to help.
"We’ll come out for two hours. We’re not asking people to come out and break their backs, we’re asking to come help a little bit," said Miranda Osten, an Arroyo Grande resident.
