The University of California president visited Cuesta College Monday afternoon to persuade transfer students about continuing education.

Janet Napolitano discussed extending a system-wide guarantee of admission to UC schools for all qualifying community college students.

She gave options of scholarships and financial aid opportunities specific for transfer students. One of the goals she talked about was making it possible for more students other than "the true freshman" to apply to UC schools.

"We want to increase the percentage of transfer students so that this is one transfer student for every two true freshmen."

But what happens with those opportunities and how much funding is given to the schools comes down to legislators.
