Car burglaries have increased around San Luis Obispo County, specifically at hiking trailheads.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s office says six car burglaries were reported Saturday morning at the parking area on top of the Cuesta Grade, located on TV Tower Road near Highway 101.
All reports came from people hiking or doing recreational activities in the area, and each report was different.
Each car, however, had their windows smashed and their belongings stolen from inside.
One of the victims posted on a group Facebook page about the incident. Other local residents commented about similar incidents, saying car burglaries have happened at other trailheads in the county.
KSBY is looking into these similar reports. We reached out to those who were targeted on the Cuesta Grade, but have not heard back from those people.
"Move it or lose it."
Police and Facebook commenters both say this is a great reminder to never leave any belongings in plain sight. Put bags and other valuables in a locked trunk or bring it inside.
