Police say graffiti is found throughout the city from time to time, but with the help of a retired SLOPD lieutenant and other volunteers, officers say the department is "very proactive" about cleaning it up.
Police say graffiti is vandalism and the people responsible for it are usually repeat offenders. Officials add that over time, the cleanup costs add up, and can be thousands of dollars.
Anyone who recognizes the man shown in the surveillance picture or who has information about the incident is asked to call SLOPD Officer Benedetti at (805) 594-8060.
