Police are turning to social media to help track down a man accused of vandalizing a San Luis Obispo business over the weekend.

San Luis Obispo police on Tuesday posted on Twitter about the man they say was caught "tagging" the back door of a business located on the 900 block of Foothill Boulevard.

Police say graffiti is found throughout the city from time to time, but with the help of a retired SLOPD lieutenant and other volunteers, officers say the department is "very proactive" about cleaning it up.

Police say graffiti is vandalism and the people responsible for it are usually repeat offenders. Officials add that over time, the cleanup costs add up, and can be thousands of dollars.

Anyone who recognizes the man shown in the surveillance picture or who has information about the incident is asked to call SLOPD Officer Benedetti at (805) 594-8060.
