Initial returns show voters favoring measure to tax cannabis in San Luis Obispo County

UPDATE (9:55 p.m.) – Updated results show the measure receiving 29,324 "yes" votes (78%) and 8,126 "no" votes (22%).


Initial returns show voters favoring Measure B, a cannabis business tax for retailers in San Luis Obispo County.

"Yes" votes for the measure totaled 28,225 with "no" votes totaling 7,837.

This measure was placed on the ballot by the SLO County Board of Supervisors. If passed, it would impose a sales tax of four percent on cannabis products sold in stores located in unincorporated areas of the county, with that tax increasing yearly up to 10 percent. The measure needs a 2/3 majority vote to pass.
