A late-season cold front will crank winds Saturday into Sunday

A cold front will move over the into early Saturday morning. After the front departs strong winds will develop Saturday afternoon into Sunday. Northwesterly 15-30mph winds along the coastline will be common with higher gusts and mostly clear skies.  The winds across Santa Barbara county will be even stronger.  A sundowner is predicted Saturday night into Sunday but also winds into Monday could be a concern.  A red flag warning is in place from Saturday-Monday for 20-40mph winds with 55-60mph gusts possible along with warm temps and lower relative humidities.  If a fire were to start under these conditions it could spread quickly.

While weekend temps come down they move back up by the middle of next week due to developing high pressure. Above-normal temperatures return to inland areas Monday with inland temperatures possibly hitting 100 degrees. Along the beaches, marine clouds and cooler temps are likely with coastal valleys a blend with temps in the 70s and lower 80s.

Some muggy air could work into the area late next week from leftovers from tropical systems south of Baja Mexico.
