Cuesta College announcing a major change to the Cuesta College Promise scholarship

Posted

The announcement will detail a new feature that will potentially affect every future Promise Scholarship recipient.

A press conference will be held at the San Luis Obispo campus on June 14.

Speaking at the press conference will be Cuesta College Superintendent/President Dr. Gil Stork, Cuesta College Board of Trustees President Dr. Barbara George, and Cuesta College Foundation Board President Anita Robinson.

Recently graduated high school students and parents will be able to comment following the announcement.

The Cuesta College Promise Scholarship provides a fee-free first year to all recently graduated San Luis Obispo County high school students.

The Cuesta Promise is the result of a private donation of more than $8 million to the Cuesta College Foundation from the Charles and Leeta Dovica Family Trust, who requested the funds be used for scholarships.

The scholarship endowment, created in the fall of 2013, currently saves students an average of
$1,400 in their first year at Cuesta College.
