PG&E has cleared a transient camp from its property on Industrial Way in Lompoc.

The encampment was riddled in trash and shopping carts which were stolen from several local businesses. Home Depot and Foods Co. also sent employees to collect the stolen shopping carts and return them to their stores.

This encampment is the same one some business owners in Lompoc’s wine ghetto expressed concerns over this past weekend.

The trash was located just feet away from dozens of their wine tasting rooms off of 12th Street. Law enforcement believes hundreds of people are living in the nearby riverbed. A small number of tasting rooms have been dealing with transients on their property as well, and say it’s been a constant problem.

PG&E officials gave a 72-hour notice to those on their property.
